Hello there fellow Indonesian youths! The result is finally out! After an intense deliberation of all Top 20 candidates, we have narrowed the list down to the Top 5 delegates!
Enabling Indonesian youths to represent their country by participating in global high level summits is the core of IYD. Hence, the Indonesian Youth Diplomacy family would like to express our highest appreciation to all of you who have shown interests in representing Indonesia at the Y20 Summit 2015 in exotic Istanbul, Turkey!
This year's applicants were the most diverse bunch of candidates we have ever had! As a country rich in diversity, this is definitely a step forward. All candidates had a variety of potential and other such strength points to offer. What is also apparent is that they showed passion, determination and courage. We wish all of you the very best in continuing your passions in your respective fields, and to strengthen your self-development for the benefit of our nation. Nothing valuable comes easy, so lets buckle up and don't forget to enjoy life's journey!
In selecting the Top 40, the Top 20, and down to the Top 5, the IYD committee went through various evaluation stages during the grading phase using selected indicators, long hours of deliberation and making tough and informed decisions. We ensure that process is fair, and committed ourselves to a transparent and robust approach until we have came into consensus.
Therefore, Indonesian Youth Diplomacy is hereby pleased to announce the 5 selected delegates that will represent Indonesia at the official Y20 Summit 2015! These 5 people represent the top 1% selected from more than 300 of the best and the brightest of Indonesia's young leaders across the world.
1. Adiska Fardani Haryadi
Adiska Fardani Haryadi is currently a Master student at the Management of Technology major in Delft University of Technology. She received a full grant scholarship from Study in Netherlands (StuNed). Apart from her current studies, she is also an active member of the Entrepreneurship Department in the Indonesian Student Association of The Netherlands. Adiska was co-founder of NoLimit Indonesia, a technology startup, which provides social media analytics solutions.
Adiska, who received the Kartini Next Generation Award from Indonesia's Ministry of Communication and Informatics, also gained a chance to represent the Indonesian creative industry in the World IT Show in Seoul, South Korea, with full support from Indonesia's Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy. She won several competitions with her team, including an achievement as the 3rd Winner of the Startup Asia Business Pitching Competition. Last year, she was appointed as one of the speakers in The World Economic Forum on East Asia at Manila, The Philippines, and gave a speech about the role of technology in empowering collaborations among citizens.
She obtained her Bachelors Degree from Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) with a BSc in Information System and Technology. She is an avid believer of Entrepreneurship and Small Medium Enterprises potentials in leveraging economic growth, particularly in developing countries. She is enthusiastic in observing startup hubs, which started at Jakarta and Bandung, continued to Delft, Copenhagen, and hopefully to other parts of the world as well. She is also an infographic designer who has a keen interest in data visualization.
2. Biondi Sanda Sima
Biondi Sanda Sima is a double Master’s Degree candidate in SciencesPo Paris and Peking University Beijing. He majors in International Economic Policy, concentrating in Diplomacy for his first year and Sustainable Development and International Relations for his second year. Prior to moving to Paris, he worked as a Communication Specialist in Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team in Jakarta, an International NGO aimed at utilising open-source digital mapping for contingency planning and economic development.
Today, aside from his hard-pressed academic routines, Biondi is also a part of the training management for SciencesPo’s delegation to NMUN New York City, the incoming chair of UNESCO in PIMUN, a finance team member for PPI Paris, an intern in the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, and a Radio Announcer in Radio PPI Dunia, where he hosts Inspirational Figures and World Facts—every Saturday-Sunday, 12.00-15.00 WIB.
Biondi, who was also an English and Chinese Mandarin interpreter in the past, is originally from Palu, Central Sulawesi; he took his undergraduate degree in international relations at Hasanuddin University, Makassar. He won Best Delegate Award in AIMUN Beijing, was an international director of ASEAN Regional Forum simulation in Melbourne, an invited judge to World Peace Invitational Debate and a Top 5 speaker in GSDebate in Malaysia. Combined with a list of other accomplishments garnered from over ten countries under his belt, he was awarded Hasanuddin University’s Most Outstanding Student 2011 and graduated cum laude and faculty’s valedictorian in 2012. He was also named as Young Leaders for Indonesia by McKinsey&Co and appointed Young Ambassador for Open Government Partnership under the President's Delivery Unit (UKP4).
3. Kristia Davina Sianipar
Kristia Davina Sianipar was born in Bangkok, grew up in Jakarta, and studied in Singapore. She knew she always loves her motherland, but did not know how much until she studied and worked overseas for six years. Throughout her university days, she danced Yapong, produced a musical on Bawang Merah, Bawang Putih, wrote a play on the epic Gajah Mada, and co-founded an Indonesian students’ organization of PPI Singapura.
She then worked as an auditor at Ernts & Young LLP, but always found time to get away from her corporate life to teach Indonesian domestic workers on weekends, go to Aceh for community service trips through Nusantara Development Initiative, and of course, actively engaging in an Indonesian professionals’ association. Her love for Indonesia soon called her home and finally led her to be a teacher for a year in Rote Island, East Nusa Tenggara through Indonesia Mengajar. It was in Rote Island that Kristia first learned how to ride a motorbike. She proudly holds a Rotenese driving license and had gone on solo trips around Rote and West Timor on her 2010 Revo motorbike she fondly called Kucing Garong. Kristia is currently involved in promoting public participation in Indonesia through the International Association for Public Participation, co-editing a book of research papers, and creating a musical.
4. Rocky Intan
Rocky Intan is currently a researcher at the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), Indonesia in the Department of Politics and International Relations. His research mainly concerns geopolitical developments and global political economy in Southeast Asia and the Asia-Pacific. He has been involved in numerous research projects such as the South-South Triangular Cooperation (SSTC), Human Security in Southeast Asia, Maritime Security in East Asia, and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.
In addition, he has assisted various activities of the Council for Security Cooperation in Asia-Pacific (CSCAP) Indonesia. He has also assisted the coordination of Bali Trade and Development Symposium, cooperating with the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development (ICTSD) of Geneva.
He received his B.A. in International Relations from Pelita Harapan University, focusing on global political economy and international trade. In his undergraduate days, he participated in various national and international Model United Nations competitions. He has twice won Best Delegate in Indonesia MUN, on 2011 and 2012. He has also participated in the Harvard National and World MUN on 2011 and 2013.
