Indonesian Delegation to the Y20 Summit 2018

Hi fellow Indonesian youths! We are just beginning to recover from the long interviews and an intense deliberation on the Top 15 Candidates for this year's Y20 recruitment during the past week. The good news is, now we have selected the final delegation!
The Argentinian Organizing Committee has continued the legacy of Germany's presidency to establish Y20 delegations of only two representatives from each G20 members for the Summit, which in itself made this year's selection process among the most competitive and intense we have ever experienced! We are deeply honoured by all the hours that all Indonesian applicants spent in perfecting their CVs, writing their essays, and preparing for their interviews. This year, we are proud to see a record 1.5% acceptance rate, showing continued enthusiasm for our programs. Other than the applicants, the Indonesian Youth Diplomacy (IYD) family would also like to express our highest appreciation to all of you who have shown genuine interests in representing Indonesia at the Y20 Summit 2018 in Argentina.
In narrowing down from 135+ applicants to Top 15 to finally Top 2, the IYD Recruitment Team has gone through intensive evaluation stages during the grading round using clear indicators, long hours of deliberation, and eventually coming up with tough and informed decisions. Not only that we ensure the process is fair, but we also committed ourselves to a transparent and robust approach until we reached into the final consensus.

1. Joanna Octavia
Joanna Octavia is a public policy professional with 7 years of experience in government affairs, policy research and multi-sectoral stakeholder engagement.
Previously she was a Senior Public Policy Associate at Uber in Indonesia, where she led cross-functional teams to establish the brand's profile among policymakers through engagement and strategic partnerships. Prior to Uber, Joanna worked as a Senior Researcher at the Center for Public Policy Transformation (Transformasi) in Jakarta, conducting studies on Indonesia's investment competitiveness, job creation and financing in sustainable development. Additionally, she had also worked as an Analyst at Bloomberg LP in Singapore, and as a Research Intern at The Serco Institute in London. As a result of her diverse experiences, she has developed a keen interest in topics surrounding labor relations, digitization of the informal economy, and the relationship between government and business in developing countries.
Joanna graduated from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 2010 with a Master of Science in Comparative Politics, and from the University of British Columbia in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science. She completed an Advanced Certificate in the Chinese Language Program at Tsinghua University in 2011. During university, she was the President of the Indonesian Students Association at UBC, and represented LSE in organizing London Indonesian Night, in which she also performed in an original play based on stories of student activism during the New Order era.
As a recipient of the Chancellor's International Scholarship, Joanna will shortly be starting her PhD in Employment Research at the Institute of Employment Research, University of Warwick.
In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, volunteering, watching documentaries and practicing brush calligraphy
2. Vincent Tjendra
Vincent is the Head of Product at Tokopedia.com, the leading e-commerce marketplace in Indonesia with a mission to democratize commerce through technology. He is entrusted to improve the marketplace platform to better connect customers and businesses across Indonesia.
Vincent previously worked as a consultant at McKinsey & Company, where he was involved in defining company strategies across various industries, including digital banking, mobile wallet and international expansion across multiple countries in Asia. He was the 2016 McKinsey & Company Regional Entrepreneur of the Year recipient and team Coach for Young Leaders for Indonesia. Prior to this, he was a product manager at Freelancer.com (ASX: FLN), Sydney, in charge of marketplace development and merger of acquired companies, with teams spanning across Australia, Philippines and Ukraine.
Vincent completed his Master of Engineering (Mechatronics) and Bachelor of Science (Mechanical) at The University of Melbourne, Australia in 2012 and 2010 respectively. He received Best International Graduate scholarship. During university, he was coordinating RoboCup development teams for international competitions and developing startups for students and education in Melbourne and Sydney. He was also involved in the Indonesian Student Association in Australia (PPIA) and ASEAN student association at university, state and national chapters.
His favorite activities are to spend time with family and exercise (swimming, tennis).
