Biondi Sima, IYD’s Newly Appointed Chair 2016-2017

We are pleased to introduce Biondi Sima, our incoming Chair of the Indonesian Youth Diplomacy (IYD). Biondi replaces Gracia Paramitha and Kania Muksin, the outgoing co-chairs who are continuing their studies in a PhD program in politics in the University of York and a master’s degree in SIPA Columbia University, respectively.

We would like to use this opportunity to thank Grace, Kania and IYD's previous administration for their invaluable service, hard work and dedication in expanding IYD legacy, serving as the youth focal point and official engagement group to G-20 Sherpa Indonesia.

Under the previous administration, Biondi was the Indonesian Delegate to the Y20 Istanbul and a co-lead recruiter for the Y20 Beijing-Shanghai.

Biondi Sima is a communications specialist at the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT) Indonesia, a DC-based non-governmental organization, whose main focus is to use digital, open-source mapping for humanitarian response and economic development. He is tasked with Australian and US-funded programs that promote open-source softwares producing realistic disaster impact scenario and early-warning system.

Biondi previously interned in the UNESCO Headquarters Paris and studied double master’s in International Economic Policy and Sustainable Development in PSIA SciencesPo and Peking University

With the new leadership, IYD will preserve its commitment as a springboard and avenue for among the most-celebrated Indonesian young talents who are passionate in international affairs and multilateral institutions. We will continue in our endeavor to be inclusive, ensuring youth voices are fairly represented and that it serves Indonesian national interest in the G-20, a decisive multilateral forum that brings together most powerful industrialized and developing economies to harmonize and to deliberate on pressing issues in global economy.

We aim to deconstruct these complex narratives on global phenomena and familiarize them with the over 125 million Indonesian growing millennials, whilst working closely with Indonesian government, private entities and other youth organizations in advancing and preparing for the next generation of thinkers, doers and change makers.
